Recruitment means acquiring the best talent for your organization. If you go by the book, you know modern recruiting consists of four stages of recruitment, i.e., Attract, Engage, Retain, Qualify. These levels concern the candidate.

However, what if I told you there are four different levels you might not have considered till now. This perspective is from the companies point of view or POV.

  • Level 0 is when there is no communication between the 2 departments i.e. hiring department and recruiters. No candidates are hired, and all the positions are open for a long period of time.
  • Level 1 is reactive. You get a requisition, and you fill it.
  • Level 2 is somewhere between reactive and proactive.

In a survey of 1,200 professionals (CXOs/ VP, Director and above) in the Michael Page India Talent Trends 2021 Report, 69% of senior-level executives said they will be looking for new job opportunities this year.

CXO search mandates in India have seen a spike of 80-100% compared with the third quarter of  2020, as hiring rebounds and pent-up demand is unleashed on the back of vaccine rollout and companies revisit growth and expansion plans.

“While firms this year will continue to focus on growing existing talent in the organisation, there will be an increasing openness for lateral hiring at senior levels, to get a fresh perspective, and guidance through the next burst of growth,” says Anshul Lodha, Head of Page Executive India.

Lodha said that as the pandemic  brings into spotlight innovation and consumer care,, “A huge swathe of sectors—including start-ups, banking, financial services and insurance, retail, IT, e-commerce, pharma, renewable segment logistics, artificial intelligence, manufacturing and fast-moving consumer goods will be net hirers in the CXO space.”
